A Glorious Life

Possibly in the last two decades or so, no death has hit our state as sadly as that of Dr. Rajkumar. A man who was a true representative of the emotions of the millions and millions of Kanndadigas and of art lovers across the country is no more. He was a living legend. May be that Kannada Film Industry might never find another Raj Kumar.

And How much did we love him? It is really amazing to know the sort of effect he had on the lives of the Kannadigas. The moment the news of his death broke out, all the business establishments in Mysore[and I guess elsewhere in Karnataka also] closed down their shutters as a mark of respect for a real life hero. As the news spread gradually, in a few hours the whole of Karnataka submerged into deep silence. I am really fortunate today that I could witness with my eyes the bereavement of a great personality. What an Effect!

Dr. Rajkumar was a never politcal figure, he never went out to create social awareness by platform speeches and yet the people of Karnataka, especially the youth, would know what it is to be a Rajkumar. His life proves this, "It is not necessary to be a politician to be a leader. It is not necessary to be a saint to be honored and respected by everybody and it is not necessary to give platform speeches to create awareness among the people." An exemplary human being, a great artist, a fighter for the cause of Kannada and a true Karma Yogi is not with us any more. May the god give all his family members the strength to withstand his bereavement. And Let all of us learn from the life of this great hero and try to emulate him.

"May his soul rest in peace"
